The DCSSA… what’s it all about?
First of all, DCSSA is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation. Our mission is to promote and enhance participation in the silent sports in Door County. You may ask yourself what exactly are silent sports. Well, silent sports include running, bicycling, swimming, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and kayaking/paddling, and are defined as aerobic activities.
These sports contribute to a healthy and active lifestyle and promote community involvement and preservation of our public land and water. DCSSA has been working to preserve and improve Door County’s local environment and has worked with our local and state officials to implement signage and safe routes for cyclists. In addition, we post current events that may have impact on our sports as well as our community.
DCSSA believes that working to improve and maintain our local environment for residents and vacationers alike also will have a dramatic and positive effect on our silent sports environment. DCSSA would like Door County to remain a vacation destination for families looking for good, safe fun year-round, encourages local business patronage from our members, and asks local businesses to help DCSSA and our members in our efforts.
DCSSA partners with event organizers in our area that support and hold events that involve silent sports activities in order to attract participants from all across the country. DCSSA also helps promote weekly events in Door County that are posted for local residents and vacationers to enjoy throughout the year.
We welcome people to join us in our efforts and encourage you to become a member of our group. DCSSA is a Wisconsin non-profit 501(c)3 corporation that relies on volunteers and donations to raise funds to help us grow and support sporting activities in Door County.
